Commencement 2022 Information

 Below are details to help you plan for your special day.  

The deadline to R.S.V.P. to attend Commencement has passed. 

When and Where 

Friday, May 20, 2022 @ 6 p.m. 
Please arrive at 5 p.m. for check-in (Photo ID will be required) 

The ceremony will take place at the Madera Community College campus commencement lawn area (behind TM-11/Cafeteria/Bookstore Building) See Map

Graduates will check in and line up in TM-11/Cafeteria Building 

Commencement Rehearsal

Commencement rehearsal will take place on Monday, May 16, at 2 pm via Zoom meeting. The meeting will be recorded and placed on the commencement webpage. Watch Recording

What to Bring 

Students will need to bring: 

  • graduation cap 
  • gown
  • tassel
  • photo ID

Caps, gowns, tassels, stoles, and graduation announcements are available for purchase at the Madera Community College Bookstore. Call (559) 675-4837 for more information.  

Food

Food and snacks will be provided by the Lion's Den Cafe between 5 and 7 pm. Cash only. 

Parking 

All participants and their guests will park in Lot “A” and Lot “C” (see map). Parking is free. There will be a passenger drop-off area at the roundabout near the child development center. We will have transportation to and from the parking lot for those who need assistance. 

Photos 

There will be a professional photographer taking pictures as you walk across the stage. The photos will be available to download for free.  A link will be emailed once photos are available.    

Cap Decorating Guidelines 

Please take into consideration the following rules when decorating your graduation cap. You will not be allowed to wear a cap if you do not follow these rules. The administration reserves the right to disallow anything that is not considered appropriate for the Commencement ceremony. 

  • No offensive language, sayings, nicknames, pictures or lyrics on cap.
  • No objects such as signs, stuffed animals, bells, flowers, or any 3D object may rest on the cap.
  • All decorations MUST lay FLAT on the cap. Nothing can lay perpendicular thus allowing us see the decoration beyond eye level.
    Your cap CANNOT make noise. No bells, horns, or anything that makes noise.

It is appropriate to put the following on your cap. 

  • Thank a parent, grandparent, teacher, friend, etc.
  • Recognize the university you will be attending.

Submit your photo by May 11

Be sure to be included in the commencement video! Send your photo to celebrate@maderacollege.edu.       

Photo Guidelines: 

  1. Make sure photo is a high resolution (this usually means 1 MB or higher). Photos from a phone will usually work.
  2. Include your preferred name, degree and major 
  3. Consider taking a photo in your cap and gown (not required). Photos can be fun or formal. Your call. 
  4. Add a note of thanks to someone to be included in social media
