We know many of our students face challenges that include food insecurity and being hungry in the classroom. Madera Community College has created the Lion’s Den to provide food and snacks for our students to give them the energy to keep attending classes, studying and doing homework.
Cal Fresh provides free money for groceries. If students apply for financial aid, why not apply for food aid. Applying online takes just a few minutes and if approved, you’ll get money to purchase groceries via an electronic benefits transfer (EBT) card every month that the student is eligible. Students can come to the Lion’s Den Food pantry to get Cal Fresh information if students need help filling out the application or have any questions of the requirements to be eligible Saul Lopez, food pantry coordinator can provide aid.
Students can also come to the food pantry for list of different community food distributions that happen on a monthly basis in Madera CA.

The Madera County Food Bank was established in 1999. They are an organization who try to meet the food needs of Madera County. As a food bank they try and reach any person or family in need of help. The Madera County Food Bank also tries to partner up with agencies and organizations to assure that the residents of Madera County do not go without food
