The Learning Success Center offers free tutoring with three distinct services – drop-in tutoring, embedded Extending the Classroom (or ETC) tutoring, and reading and writing tutoring – both in person and online for numerous courses at Madera Community College. We have the same goal as the students we help: Working toward success in the classroom!
How do we reach this shared ambition? Learning Center tutoring and its supplementary services enable learning and academic success with both collaborative and independent learning activities. In other words, we not only work alongside students but strive to give them the skills and confidence to succeed in college on their own.
All Learning Center employees receive a professional certification through the College Reading and Learning Association upon completing their first semester of training.
No matter what kind of assistance you need, the Learning Center has something that can help you thrive as part of MCC’s community of learners.
Students can work with a tutor for as long as they’d like, no appointment needed, in all levels of math, from algebra to calculus and statistics, as well as biology, chemistry, and physics.
Whether you need help starting an assignment or reading through a text, want peer feedback on a draft, or must polish your grammar and citations, Reading and Writing tutors offer free appointments and resources for all student writers. Come write with us!
What is MCC’s Extending the Classroom (ETC) initiative? In a nutshell, we put tutors in classrooms across the curriculum – from biology and chemistry to history and philosophy and offer regularly scheduled tutorial sessions within our space to reinforce what you learn in class.
