Commencement Rehearsal

Commencement rehearsal will take place on Wednesday, May 15 2024 from 3:00-5:00 pm in AM 123. A practice of the graduation walkthrough will also be simulated.

Commencement day

Commencement will take place on Friday, May 17, 2024 @ 6 p.m. 
Please arrive by 5 p.m. and check-in to TM-11/Cafeteria (Photo ID will be required). 

ONLY graduates will be allowed inside TM-11/Cafeteria building.

While inside, and prior to the start of the ceremony, graduates can take pictures, fix attire, use the restroom, hydrate, and stay cool.

The ceremony will take place at the Madera Community College cafeteria lawn area (in front of TM-11/Cafeteria/Bookstore Building) See Map

Staff will coordinate lining up and walking out as it gets closer to 6 pm. Refer to the “click here” link above for more information.

What to Bring 

Students will need to bring: 

  • graduation cap 
  • gown
  • tassel
  • photo ID

Caps, gowns, tassels, stoles, and graduation announcements are available for purchase at the Madera Community College Bookstore. Call (559) 675-4837 for more information.  

Parking 

All participants and their guests will park in Lot “A”, "B" or Lot “C” (see map). Parking is free. There will be a passenger drop-off area at the roundabout near the child development center. We will have transportation to and from the parking lot for those who need assistance. 

Cap Decorating Guidelines 

Please take into consideration the following rules when decorating your graduation cap. You will not be allowed to wear a cap if you do not follow these rules. The administration reserves the right to disallow anything that is not considered appropriate for the Commencement ceremony. 

  • No offensive language, sayings, nicknames, pictures or lyrics on cap.
  • No objects such as signs, stuffed animals, bells, flowers, or any 3D object may rest on the cap.
  • All decorations MUST lay FLAT on the cap. Nothing can lay perpendicular thus allowing us see the decoration beyond eye level.
    Your cap CANNOT make noise. No bells, horns, or anything that makes noise.

It is appropriate to put the following on your cap. 

  • Thank a parent, grandparent, teacher, friend, etc.
  • Recognize the university you will be attending.
