MCCC President Forums

Public Forums will be held at Madera Community College Center on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 with the top two candidates vying to be president of the campus.  State Center Community College District used the services of the Association of Community College Trustees to conduct a nationwide search.  The process is continuing with background checks on the candidates.  A screening committee reviewed applications and conducted initial interviews.  Public Forums will be held so that the college and community can learn more about the candidates and hear their vision for Madera Community College Center on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. in Madera Community College Center Forum Hall (AM-120).

The candidates are:

Dr. Claudia Lourido-Habib                             Forum:  9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

Dr. Claudia Lourido-Habib has been the vice president of Madera & Oakhurst Community College Centers since January 2017.  She served as vice president, student services at Reedley College for three years, interim dean of instruction, fine, performing & communication arts at Fresno City College, interim dean of instruction, ag/natural resources, manufacturing & business at Reedley College, and tenured faculty at Fresno City College.  Her industry experience includes interior designer & project manager and architecture drafting.  She earned her Ed.D. in education and leadership at Fresno State, her M.S. in instructional technology at National University, her B.A. in interior design from Fresno State, and she completed coursework at CalPoly, San Luis Obispo after transferring from Fresno City College.

Angel Reyna, ABD                                          Forum:  10:15 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.

Angel Reyna

Angel Reyna has served as vice president of instruction at Renton Technical College in the state of Washington since December 2015.  He served as dean of workforce education at Walla Walla Community College and at Yakima Valley Community College he held the positions of director for workforce education, interim industry coordinator, and ESL adjunct instructor.  Mr. Reyna was elected mayor for the City of Mabton, Washington from 2010-2013 and was a city council member from 2006-2009.  He also worked as a seasonal migrant farmworker for 13 years.  He is earning his doctorate in organizational leadership (ABD) at Northeastern University, Seattle campus, he earned his M.A. in educational leadership and B.A. from Washington State University, Pullman.

 

Candidates will present their vision for the future and answer pre-submitted questions.  If time allows, questions from the audience will be addressed.  The deadline to submit questions online is Monday, February 4, 2019 at 12:00 p.m.  Send questions to Sareang.Nhim@scccd.edu. Forms will be provided at the event to submit questions if time permits.

Survey Monkey will be the only source to provide feedback on the candidates and the link will be activated on Tuesday, February 5, 2019.  Feedback in Survey Monkey is due by 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2019.  Below are the links to submit feedback.
