USDA names Agriculture Instructor a USDA HSI (E. Kika De La Garza) Fellow

Jul 8, 2022

Agriculture Instructor Dr. Elizabeth Mosqueda has been named an E. Kika De La Garza Fellow by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Twenty faculty and staff from Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) and Hispanic-Serving School Districts across the nation were chosen for this prestigious fellowship. The E. Kika De La Garza Fellowship Program links USDA and Hispanic-Serving Institutions to help build awareness in Hispanic communities of USDA services, resources, and employment opportunities.

Beginning on July 11, 2022, E. Kika De La Garza Education, High School, and Science Fellows will spend one week meeting with a host of leaders from different USDA agencies in the Washington, D.C. area, where they can interact directly on national and regional issues, policy making, and research.

Dr. Elizabeth Mosqueda is very excited and grateful the USDA selected her to participate in the fellowship and is even more excited to share what she learns from the experience with Madera Community College faculty, staff, and students. She hopes this opportunity can help her create even more opportunities for students enrolled in the various agriculture programs at MCC, which in turn will impact the Madera community.
