Congratulations to our 2025-2026 Fresno-Madera K-16 Collaborative Executive Steering Committee Co-Chairs!  We are honored to welcome Dr. Saúl Jiménez-Sandoval, President of Fresno State, and Dr. Ángel Reyna, President of Madera Community College, as the newly elected co-chairs of the Fresno-Madera K-16 Collaborative Executive Steering Committee.

Dr. Reyna brings a powerful perspective shaped by lived experience, equity-driven leadership, and an unwavering commitment to student success. A former migrant farmworker and first-generation college graduate, he now leads Madera Community College with a clear focus: creating a welcoming, inclusive environment where every student belongs and thrives. Under his leadership, MCC continues to break barriers and expand access to education in the Central Valley.

Dr. Jiménez-Sandoval, a long-time educator and proud Valley resident, has led Fresno State through a period of significant growth and national recognition. His leadership has expanded access through initiatives like Bulldog Bound, grown Fresno States research and grant capacity, and strengthened community partnerships across sectors. His commitment to mentorship, diversity, and innovation continues to shape the regions higher education landscape.

Together, these visionary leaders embody the values of Fresno-Madera K-16 Collaborative: collaboration, community impact, and a shared commitment to advancing educational and economic opportunity in the Central Valley.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Jiménez-Sandoval and Dr. Reyna on their appointment!

The Fresno-Madera K-16 Collaborative was launched in 2020 following Governor Newsom’s announcement at the 2019 California Economic Summit of a $10 million investment to support postsecondary access and success in the Central Valley. As one of the original collaboratives funded by the Governor’s Council for Post-Secondary Education, our mission has been bold and equity-driven:

  • Increase the number of students earning degrees in high-growth, high-wage fields
  • Shorten time to completion for associate and bachelor’s degrees
  • Reduce racial and ethnic disparities in degree attainment

The Collaborative brings together K-12, community colleges, CSU, UC, and workforce partners to strengthen dual enrollment, expand early college credit opportunities, and create seamless career education pathways. Our shared vision is to support students—from high school to adult learners—in attaining postsecondary credentials that lead to economic mobility and community prosperity.
