Congratulations! July 20 th marks the fifth anniversary of Madera Community College as California’s 116 th and newest community college.
As I reflect on the past five years, I am incredibly proud of all of you for the work we have accomplished together in service to our students and community. I also want to acknowledge that this campus existed and served students long before we officially became Madera Community College. While we are celebrating five years of being a college, I do want to recognize and show my appreciation to all our current and former colleagues who have worked here since our time as a center and satellite campus.
At our commencement in May, I was impressed by the sheer size of our graduating class and the overwhelming support from families and friends in attendance. That moment was a powerful reminder of the impact of your great work; what you are doing is changing lives and building a reputation that resonates throughout our community. This year, we surpassed 12,000 students for the first time in our history, a sign that our reach and reputation continue to grow alongside Madera County.
Our students’ success is a direct reflection of your dedication to them, to one another, and to making our college a wonderful place to work and learn. It has been my honor to work alongside all of you on this journey, and I would like to express my gratitude to each of you for the great first five years as Madera Community College. I am excited about what is ahead for our campus and very much looking forward to kicking off the new school year on August 11.
