UC Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG)

Six University of California (UC) campuses offer guarantee admission to students from California community colleges (CCC). By participating in a TAG program, students can ensure their admission to a specific UC campus.

Fall 2024 UC Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) Matrix

Who can file a TAG?

  • Only students transferring directly from a California community college (CCC) are considered for a TAG, including international students (those with a visa).
  • A CCC transfer student is one who has completed at least 30 semester (45 quarter) UC-transferable units at one or more California community colleges. The last college the student attended in a regular session (fall/spring or fall/winter/spring) before admission to a UC campus must be a California community college.

Follow the four steps below and secure your UC TAG.

Before you apply, figure out where you want to go. Check out our TAG matrix for a full list of the campuses in the program, and their individual requirements.

Use our Transfer Admission Planner to fill out your TAG application. If you have a community college counselor, review it with them. Don’t worry if you don’t—we have our own UC TAG advisors who can help you out. You’ll need to submit by September 30th for the fall term, or May 31st for the winter/spring term. Remember, if you miss the TAG deadline, you can still apply to UC during the regular application period (October 1–November 30).

Once your application’s submitted, you’ll need to complete all your remaining coursework, and hit the GPA requirements in your TAG agreement.

When you’re on track for all of the above, fill out the application for admission to UC. Make sure you submit your application between October 1–November 30 for the fall term and between July 1-31 for the winter/spring term.

Upon confirming eligibility for a TAG, students are encouraged to meet with a MCC counselor and/or a university admissions representative (when available) to review and confirm course selection.
